At For the Love of Flour, we focus on quality comfort food made from scratch with a homemade feel. We are a growing bakery in Richmond, Virginia specializing in cakes, cookies, cinnamon rolls, pies, bars, and nostalgic desserts that bring people together. We are looking for someone who values quality, consistency, and teamwork while being able to work independently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Back of House Baker / Prep Assistant to join our team part-time. This role is ideal for someone with bakery experience who enjoys hands-on production work and takes pride in creating high-quality baked goods from scratch.
The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable working independently during prep and production shifts.
Responsibilities

Assist with daily bakery production and prep

Prepare batters, doughs, fillings, frostings, and baked goods

Follow recipes and production procedures accurately

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations

Help with ingredient prep, dishwashing, and kitchen closing tasks

Monitor product quality and consistency

Follow food safety and sanitation standards

Assist with inventory organization and restocking ingredients

Occasionally assist with early morning baking and prep shifts
Qualifications

1–3 years of baking or bakery experience preferred

Previous experience working in a bakery environment required

Strong attention to detail and time management skills

Ability to work independently and stay productive without constant supervision

Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds

Willingness to become ServSafe Certified

Passion for baking and quality comfort food
Schedule & Compensation

Part-time position

Approximately 15–25 hours per week

Under 28 hours weekly with potential opportunity for full-time growth

Typical shift hours: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Occasional early morning hours may be required

Pay range: $15–$17 per hour based on experience
